Hudson Valley Community College's hockey team, who won the junior college national title on Sunday, will hold a post-season pep rally and media day on Thursday, March 15. Players and coaches will be available for interviews and photographs from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hudson Valley's campus center. Additionally, beginning at 11:45 a.m., John Buono, Hudson Valley's president, Drew Marrochello, the college's athletics director, and coach Ron Kuhl will address Hudson Valley's student body on the first floor of the campus center.
The Vikings traveled to Bottineau, North Dakota this past weekend, where they defeated Minot State University-Bottineau twice to capture Hudson Valley's first hockey championship. After posting a .500 record last year, the Vikings went 24-4 in 2000-01, suffering just two junior college losses. Of the 18 skaters on Hudson Valley's roster, 15 hail from the Capital Region, including six from Saratoga Springs High School.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions; Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences.
