Hudson Valley Hockey Skates Past Erie

Sophomore goaltender Dan Silver (Soldotna, AK/Kenai High School) stopped 39 shots to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (5-13) ice hockey team to a 3-0 win over Erie Community College (8-6) today in Troy.
Sophomore Drew Reynolds (Troy/LaSalle Institute) put the Vikings up early when his shot from the left side slipped past the goaltender just 37 second into the contest.
The Vikings went up 2-0 when sophomore Matt Wyld (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) scored on a rebound 9:51 into the second period. Reynolds would then score his second goal of the contest just over two minutes later to put the Vikings up 3-0.
Wyld assisted on two scores to go along with his goal. Sophomore defenseman Brett Holmes (Claverack/Hudson High School) also had two assists.
With two five on three advantages in the third period, Erie had its chances to score but Silver made 17 saves in the final period to preserve the win.
