Hudson Valley Hockey Loses to Monroe

The Hudson Valley Community College (9-9-2) ice hockey team surrendered three unanswered goals over the final two periods in a 4-2 loss to Monroe Community College (12-5-1) earlier today in Troy.
After falling behind 1-0 early in the first period, Hudson Valley responded with a pair of goals by freshman Kevin O’Connell (Schenectady/Colonie High School). His second goal gave Hudson Valley a
2-1 lead with 19 seconds remaining in the first period.
Monroe then tied the game by sophomore Pat Kieffer (Fairport) with 15:16 remaining in the second period.
Monroe put the game away during a 22 second span in the third period.
Sophomore Craig Willis scored the game-winning goal with 11:11 remaining in the game and freshman Brandon Dries (Hamlin) added an insurance goal with 10:49 left in the game.
Sophomore goaltender Andrew Choma (Rochester) stopped 26 shots in the net to pick up the win for Monroe.
