Hudson Valley Ice Hockey Rallies for 6-3 Win over UAlbany

The Hudson Valley Community College (8-6-2) ice hockey team improved its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 6-3 win over the University at Albany’s (14-4-0) club team.
Albany took a 2-0 lead in the opening period on goals by sophomore Chris Yohe (Nassau) and junior Will O’Hara (Ronkonkoma).
Freshman Matt Wyld (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) scored the first of his two goals with 3:13 remaining in the first period to cut the Vikings deficit to 2-1.
Freshman Brett Holmes (Claverack/Hudson High School) tied the game for Hudson Valley 2:19 into the second period with a power play goal.
Tied 2-2 after the first two periods, Hudson Valley exploded for four third period goals. Freshman Eric Park (Los Angeles, CA/Green Pastures
Academy) put Hudson Valley up 3-2 just 17 seconds into the third period and sophomore Chris Gramlich (Philadelphia, PA/Bishop McDevitt High
School) scored a pair of goals to put the game away.
Albany had won 13 of its last 14 games entering the contests and is ranked No. 4 in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association Division III Atlantic Region poll.
Hudson Valley, which is 5-0-2 since December 7, travels to SUNY Canton for a key Region III game on Saturday, January 28.
