Hudson Valley Hockey Rallies Past Canton

The Hudson Valley Community College (4-6-1/2-4-0 Region III) ice hockey team scored four power play goals in the third period in a 5-2 win over SUNY Canton (6-6-1/2-3-1 Region III) earlier today in Troy.
Pat Semenero and Kyle Laurie scored second period goals to give Canton a 2-1 lead entering the third period.
Sophomore Jeff Beecher (South Glens Falls/South Glens Falls High School) tied the game, 2:34 into the third period, with the first of his two goals in the contest.
Sophomore Brian Maher (Bethlehem/Bethlehem High School) then scored the game winner two minutes later with a slap shot from 20 feet away that slipped past the goaltender.
Beecher and freshman Brett Holmes (Claverack/Hudson High School) added insurance goals for Hudson Valley, which is 2-1-1 over its last four games.
Freshman goalie Devon Lent (Ballston Spa/Saratoga Springs High School) stopped 24 shots to pick up the win in net.
