Hockey Defeats Mohawk Valley

Sophomore Jeff Beecher (South Glens Falls/South Glens Falls High School) scored three goals, including the game-winning goal with six minutes remaining in the game, to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (3-5-0) hockey team to a 5-4 win at Mohawk Valley Community College (8-2-0) on Wednesday.
Trailing 1-0, Beecher and sophomore Brent Fyer (Delmar/Bethlehem High School) scored first period goals to give the Vikings a 2-1 lead entering the first intermission.
It was back-and-forth affair the rest of the contest. Beecher and sophomore Chris Gramlich (Philadelphia, PA/Bishop McDevitt High School) scored goals in the second period for Hudson Valley. Gramlich's goal came with one minute remaining in the period to give Hudson Valley a 4-3 lead.
Freshman goaltender Devon Lent (Ballston Spa/Saratoga Springs High School) stopped 39 shots to pick up the win in net.
Hudson Valley will host two-time defending national champion Morrisville State College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 3.
