Hudson Valley Hockey Drops a Pair During Northern Swing

The Hudson valley Community College ice hockey team dropped to 2-8 on the year after suffering a pair of losses over the weekend. Hudson Valley fell, 7-2, at SUNY Canton, who is ranked third in the latest NJCAA ice hockey poll, on Saturday, January 18. The Vikings then suffered a 6-4 setback at North Country on Sunday, January 19.
SUNY Canton used six second-period goals to defeat Hudson Valley. The Vikings received goals from freshman defenseman Michael Hurley (Oswego/Oswego High School) and sophomore forward Brian Mohan (Waterford/LaSalle Institute).
Only one minute had elapsed when freshman forward Joel Crouse (Oswego/Oswego High School) scored off an assist from Mohan to give Hudson Valley an early 1-0 lead over North Country. Eight minutes later, the Vikings went up 2-1 on a goal from sophomore forward Brent Sheehan (Troy/Christian Brothers Academy). However, North Country would score the next three goals and held off the Vikings for the two-goal victory.
Also netting goals for Hudson Valley were freshman forwards Mike Guilfoil (Liverpool/Liverpool High School) and Matt Benedetto (Rotterdam/Mohonasen High School).
