Vikings Conclude First Week of Practice with Green and White Game

The Hudson Valley Community College football team wrapped up its first week of practice with the annual Green and White scrimmage earlier this afternoon.
The annual event was a 70-play scrimmage, which was highlighted by a 15-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Rodney Turner (Media,PA/Strath Haven High School) to sophomore wide receiver Jarrett Smith (Beacon/Beacon High School) and a seven yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Shane Murray (Oswego/Oswego High School) to freshman wide receiver Adrian Barnhill (Gloversville/Gloversville High School).
Hudson Valley returns six starters from last year’s team that finished 6-4 and was ranked No. 20 in the final NJCAA poll, including sophomore All-American wide receiver Tim Bush (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School). The other returning starters are cornerbacks James Romain (Far Rockaway/Far Rockaway High School) and Reggie Johnson (Tarboro, NC/Tarboro High School), defensive end Chuck Valente (Troy/Troy High School), outside linebacker Lenard Leslie (Baltimore, MD/Woodlawn High School) and offensive tackle Adrian Brown (Baltimore, MD/Randallstown High School).
The Vikings will kick off the 2006 campaign at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 8 against Army Prep. The game will be played at Michie Stadium in West Point.
