The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recognized Hudson Valley Community College sophomore running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley/Spring Valley High School) as its Offensive Player of the Week for his play in last Saturday's 39-28 win over Alfred State College.
Marc, who also was named the Northeast Football Conference's (NFC) Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, carried the ball 35 times for 335 yards against the Pioneers. He also caught two passes for 45 yards and scored four touchdowns on the ground.
Already Hudson Valley's all-time leading rusher with 2,677 yards, Marc established three more school-records against Alfred State. His 335 rushing yards surpassed Dwight Slater, who rushed for 294 yards against Siena College in 1975. Marc has 1,442 rushing yards this year, surpassing the former season mark of 1,250 yards set by Dan Vergine in 1999. With his four touchdowns against Alfred State, Marc currently has 26 in his career and passes Dennis Greene, who had 24 touchdowns from 1971 to 1972.
Freshman defensive end Jonal Saint-Dic (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth High School) earned the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week award after registering five tackles, including three sacks, a forced fumble and a pass break-up against the Pioneers. He currently ranks second in the conference with eight sacks on the year.
Hudson Valley (6-1, 4-1 NFC), which clinched at least a share of the conference title with its win over Alfred State, will host Nassau Community College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25.
