Hudson Valley Football Wins Opener

Troy, N.Y. - Sophomore running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley/Spring Valley High School) carried the ball 30 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Hudson Valley Community College football team to a 30-0 win over Navy Prep earlier today at Veterans Memorial Field.
Hudson Valley, which moves to 1-0 on the season, picked up its first win in five tries against the Rams. Navy Prep falls to 0-1.
The Vikings took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter when sophomore linebacker Robert Holt (Edison, NJ/John F. Kennedy) intercepted a pass from Navy Prep quarterback Anthony Johnson and ran it in from 29 yards away.
Leading only 10-0 with 3:05 remaining in the third quarter, freshman fullback Atiba Taylor (Spring Valley/Ramapo High School) ran the ball in from 23 yards away to give Hudson Valley a comfortable 17-0 advantage.
Marc, who gained 126 of his yards in the second half, had fourth quarter touchdown runs from 16 and three yards out to put away the Rams.
Hudson Valley sophomore quarterback Ryan Gribulis (Kerhonksen/Rondout Valley High School) completed 10 of 14 passes for 86 yards. Sophomore wide receiver Skyler Hunter (Detroit, MI/Pearson High School) caught four passes for 47 yards.
The Viking defense forced seven turnovers on the day and held Navy Prep to only 17 yards of total offense in the second half. Sophomore John Howell IV (Columbia, SC/Lower Richland High School) finished with 6 tackles, including four tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Sophomore cornerback Jermaine Toney (Bishopville, SC/Lee Central High School) contributed 10 tackles and an interception.
Hudson Valley will host RPI JV on Sunday, September 14 at 1 p.m.
