Hudson Valley Falls at Alfred State 33-21

CONTACT: Steve Mullen (518) 629-8063

FOR RELEASE: Immediate, Saturday, October 19

Quarterback Jeff Duggins (Danville, KY) threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns to lead Alfred State College to a 33-21 win over Hudson Valley Community College earlier today in Wellsville, NY. Duggins also ran for two touchdowns for the Pioneers, who recorded their first win over Hudson Valley in eight tries.

Hudson Valley drops to 3-4 and 2-3 in the Northeast Football Conference (NFC) while Alfred State improves to 4-3 and 2-2 in the NFC.

The Vikings dug themselves a huge whole early, fumbling on their own eight yard line during their second drive. Duggins found Mark Wolfe (Brockport, NY) in the end zone three plays later to give Alfred State the early 7-0 lead.

Two drives later, Hudson Valley again gave Alfred State great field position at the Vikings three yard line following a bad snap that sailed over the Hudson Valley punter’s head. Duggins went in from one yard out to give the Pioneers a 13-0 advantage.

Hudson Valley cut its deficit to 13-7 with 3:55 remaining in the first half when quarterback Marquis Ingram (Queens, NY/Lyndon Institute) scored from one yard out. However, Duggins marched his Pioneers down the field and hit Nick Pagano (Rochester, NY) with a 16-yard touchdown pass, with only 14 seconds remaining in the half, to give Alfred State a 19-7 lead and the momentum going into the break.

Running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley, NY/Spring Valley) rushed for 163 yards on the rain-soaked field for Hudson Valley, which gained 294 yards of total offense compared to only 236 for the hosts. However, the Vikings turned the ball over four times including three times inside their own ten yard line.

Hudson Valley returns to action next Saturday, October 26 when it travels to Nassau Community College. Kick off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
