Weekend Athletic Action Wrap-Up

On Saturday, Oct.18, the men's soccer team (14-4-1), ranked fifth in the nation, hosted Delhi on the Hudson Valley Community College campus. Delhi took a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half, and was able to hold off the Vikings for a 3-1 victory. The Vikings next action will be in the post-season, with their seeding to be announced this week.
The Hudson Valley Community College cross-country team competed locally at the University at Albany meet. There were 125 women in the meet, and Julie Nabozny (Ichabod Crane HS/Valatie, NY) led the Vikings, finishing in 28th place, with a time of 20:26.
The Hudson Valley Community College volleyball team competed at the Corning Invitational tournament. The Vikings (13-11) defeated Broome and Tompkins Cortland Community College, while falling to Corning and Monroe. Leading the way was Brittanae Drake (Mountain Pointe HS/Phoenix, AZ) with 35 kills, and Amanda Kwiecien (Spa Catholic, Saratoga Springs, NY) with 33 assists.
The Hudson Valley Community College football team (3-4) defeated RPI's junior varsity team 35-8. The Vikings got off to a strong start, and led 28-2 at the half. Leading the way for the Vikings was by freshman Mark Kemper (Wadleigh HS/NY, NY) who rushed for 97 yards. The Vikings will be back in action on Nov. 1, when they travel to face Dean.
