Hudson Valley Male and Female Athletes of the Month; Team of the Month - May

Mason AgostoMason Agosto (Cary-Grove (IL)/Cary, IL) has become one of the top offensive threats in Region III lacrosse. Agosto has 42 goals and 32 assists on the season and is ranked fifth in Region III with 74 points. He had a four game stretch in April where he recorded 17 goals. His best game came on April 12, when he tallied nine total points against Mohawk Valley Community College. Agosto had six goals and three assists in the 22-4 victory.

Molly McDonoughMolly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) is a main reason why the Vikings have had success thus far in the 2011 season. McDonough is leading the team in hits, triples, runs scored, and batting average. She is second in Region III in hitting with a .659 batting average. She has been an instrumental part in big games this season. In the Vikings sweep over Corning Community College, McDonough recorded five hits, a home run, and three RBIs. McDonough has cemented herself in Viking history becoming the All-Time Single-Season Hit's Leader. She is also currently ranked #1 in the country in batting and was named to the First Team All-Region.

The men's baseball team had an outstanding April with a 21-1-1 record, and ended the month on a 12-game winning streak. They are currently ranked #1 in the Region III East Division Coaches Poll. Much of the Vikings' success can be attributed to strong pitching.

Bryan Lajeunesse (Albany Academy/Watervliet) is third in the region with an impressive 0.99 ERA. Lajuenesse is a perfect 5-0 on the season in which he went the distance in each game. Tim Murdick (Averill Park/East Greenbush) leads all of Region III in strikeouts with 40. He is averaging 1.395 strikeouts per inning.

Nick Papas (Maple Hill/Castleton) is the team's leading hitter with a .398 average. Papas has 33 hits on the season with seven doubles. Tyler Young (Shaker/Latham) is third in the region with 26 RBIs and Jake DiPietro (Kingston/Kingston) is ninth with 21.

The Vikings look to continue their recent month of success into Regionals where they hope to play deep into the post-season.
