Rich Guillod Named NJCAA First Team All-American

TROY, NY - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recently named Hudson Valley Community College sophomore shortstop Rich Guillod (Closter, NJ/Northern Valley) a Division III first team all-American. Guillod was named to the first team along with Jon Masch and Travis Latz of Richland; Brandon Howard and Dillon Roark of Joliet (Ill.); Mike Bokman of Montgomery-Germantown (Md.); Zachary Whitman of Gloucester County (N.J.); and Liam Ohlmann of Manchester (Conn.).
Guillod, who also earned 2008 NJCAA Region III and Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year honors, is the fourth Hudson Valley baseball player since 1999 and the 12th in school history to garner first team all-American accolades.
In 41 games this season, Guillod batted .454 with 10 home runs and 59 RBI. He led the team in batting average, hits (64), triples (7), home runs, RBI, slugging percentage (.837) and was tied for first in runs scored (55) and tied for second in doubles (10). In addition, he also set a new single-season record for home runs in a season and tied the school record for RBI in a season. Guillod recorded a hit in 32 of 41 games this season, including 22 multiple-hit games and 17 multiple-RBI games. He had a season-high 5 RBI vs. Onondaga on April 30.
The Vikings, 2008 Region III and Mountain Valley Conference champions, finished the season with a 32-10 record. The 32 wins are the fourth most in school history and it was the fifth time that the baseball team recorded 30 or more wins in a season.
