Hudson Valley's Baseball And Softball Teams Set To Begin Quest For Region III Title

Men To Play Jamestown; Women Prepare For Adirondack

Hudson Valley Community College's baseball and softball teams each begin a quest for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region III crown on Tuesday, May 8, partaking in sub-regional games. The winner of each game will advance to their respective NJCAA Division III Region III tournament, which begins on Friday, May 11.

Hudson Valley's baseball team (28-8 overall, 18-4 Region III), the third-seeded team in the Region III tournament, hosts sixth-seeded Jamestown Community College (16-13 overall, 12-7 Region III) at 3:30 p.m. Due to construction at Hudson Valley, the game will be played at Christian Brother Academy's baseball field. CBA is located at 12 Airline Drive in Albany.

The seedings for the men's tournament are as follows: 1) Erie Community College 2) Columbia-Greene Community College 3) Hudson Valley Community College 4) Schenectady County Community College 5) Broome Community College 6) Jamestown Community College 7) Mohawk Valley Community College 8) Herkimer County Community College.

Hudson Valley's softball team (21-7 overall, 18-4 Region III), seeded fourth in the Region III tournament and ranked ninth in the nation among Division III squads, hosts fifth-seeded Adirondack Community College (15-5 overall, 15-5 Region III) at 4 p.m. The game will be played at Classie Lassie Softball Field in Averill Park, which is located on Edwards Road, off Route 150 East.

The seedings for the women's tournament are as follows: 1) Broome Community College 2) Monroe Community College 3) Mohawk Valley Community College 4) Hudson Valley Community College 5) Adirondack Community College 6) Herkimer County Community College 7) Corning Community College 8) Niagara County Community College.
