Four Vikings win American Legion State Championship

The Melvin Roads American legion baseball team, based in East Greenbush, recently won its first New York State championship, and will be playing for a chance to compete in the 2007 American Legion World Series. Four members of Hudson Valley’s baseball team – pitcher Justin Shannon, outfielder Max Keado, infielder Mark Peluso and catcher Casey Job – are playing for Melvin Roads. They are coached by Hudson Valley alum Curtis Nobles.

Melvin Roads is 43-8 this season and has advanced to the eight-team Mid-Atlantic Regional in West Lawn, PA. They will meet Virginia state champion Staunton Post 13 in the opening round beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 16. The tournament winner will advance to the American Legion World Series on August 24-28 in Bartlesville, OK. Click here follow live stats of the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
