Hudson Valley's Steve Sayre Earns Region III Honor
Hudson Valley to Host Region III Championship This Weekend

Steve Sayre (East Greenbush/Columbia High School), a sophomore on the Hudson Valley Community College baseball team, has been named the Region III Male Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending May 2.
Sayre led the Vikings to a 9-0 record last week. In nine games, he hit .532 (17-for-32) with five doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI. He leads the Vikings with a .453 (68-for-150) batting average this season.
Top-seeded Hudson Valley will host No. 4 Columbia-Greene Community College at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 7 in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament. The other semifinal will match No.6 Jamestown Community College against No.2 Erie Community College. The tournament is a scheduled four-team double-elimination format.
Hudson Valley and Columbia-Greene split a doubleheader on April 7 in Hudson. The host Twins won the opening game, 4-3, and Hudson Valley took the nightcap, 5-1.
The Region III Tournament champion will advance to the NJCAA Division III World Series on May 22-28 in Batavia.
