Freshman pitcher Nate Jones (Horseheads/Horseheads High School) tossed his second consecutive shutout in leading the Hudson Valley Community College baseball team to an 11-0 win over Adirondack Community College in the second game of a doubleheader played earlier today at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Hudson Valley won the opener, 7-1.

Jones, who pitched his first collegiate no-hitter against Onondaga Community College last Monday, allowed only two infield hits in five innings of work today. He struck out nine and walked two. Jones is 4-0 this season and has not allowed a run in 13 consecutive innings.

Sophomore Steve Sayre (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) was four-for-four with a home run and five RBI to power the Vikings' 17-hit attack in the nightcap. Sophomore Ryan Gijon-Owen (Puebla, Mexico/Bowie, TX High School) was three-for-four with an RBI, and freshmen Joel Molina (Middletown/Middletown High School) and William Lewis (Middletown/Middletown High School) added two hits apiece.

Freshman Anthony Bloomfield (Albany/Bishop Maginn High School) only allowed one run on one hit to pick up the win for the Vikings in the opening game. He walked two and struck out seven.

Gijon-Owen was three-for-four with a three-run home run to pace the Hudson Valley offense. Freshman Craig Mastroianni (Colonie/Colonie High School) and sophomore Bill Kelts (Waterford/Christian Brothers Academy) added two hits apiece.

The Vikings, ranked eighth in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, have won seven straight games and are 22-7 on the year. Adirondack, which was the scheduled home team for today's doubleheader, falls to 2-11.

Hudson Valley will host fifth-ranked Dutchess Community College on Sunday, April 18. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at noon.
