FOR RELEASE: Immediate, Saturday, April 6, 2013
The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (1-3) lost to Herkimer County Community College (3-8) 3-0 and 12-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings outhit Herkimer 4-2 in the first game, but couldn’t manage to get Josh Temple (Cohoes/Cohoes) any run support. Temple went the distance on the hill, only giving up two hits in the loss. John Craig (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) and Andy Kozak (Sidney/Sidney) were the only two players to pick up hits in the game, each with two.
Hudson Valley fell behind 6-0 early in game two and could never recover. Craig hit a 380 foot homerun over the left-centerfield fence to score the first two runs in the fourth. Jonas Goodell (Columbia/East Greenbush) added an RBI single in the inning and that was all for the Vikings.
The Vikings get a chance to redeem themselves tomorrow as they host the Generals in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
