Training for Faculty & Staff

This training is for faculty who are developing an online or hybrid course on the college’s Learning Management System. During this class, participants meet two hours per week and develop their online or hybrid course outside class time. Lecture, discussion, reading, and learning activities form the core instruction. Participants will utilize the Brightspace LMS, obtain a strong understanding of asynchronous pedagogy/andragogy, and experience how students take an online course. The outcome of the training will be a SUNY Online Course Quality Review (OSCQR) approved fully developed online or hybrid course on Brightspace.

This training is for faculty who need to learn and rebuild their existing online/hybrid using the D2L Brightspace Learning Management System.

Prerequisite: completed Online Instructor Training 1 (formerly known as PEOCDD).

The training is in a hybrid format, and we meet remotely or in-person daily for 2 hours for 2 weeks. Outside of training time, you will be working on rebuilding your course(s). Upon completing your 14-hour training and course rebuild, you will complete a Course Readiness Checklist.

This training prepares faculty to use the D2L Brightspace Learning Management system to web enhancing their Web-Remote (Online via Zoom) and In-Person (F2F) courses. The training is in a hybrid format, and we meet remotely/in-person once weekly for 2 hours. Outside of training time, you will be working on developing and building your course. Upon completing your course build, you will complete a Course Readiness Checklist.

In this training you will learn how to use YuJa for pre-recorded video lecture materials. YuJa Video Platform is a lecture capture or screen recording software that allows you to record your slideshows, screen, or face and voice. It can be used to pre-record the course content to put online. YuJa is an “asynchronous” tool, meaning you will record the lecture content ahead of time, edit it if need be, and put it in your course for your students to watch.

In the training you will learn how to use VoiceThread for lectures, discussions, or assignments. VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and sharing tool that enables users to add images, documents, and videos, and to which other users can add voice, text, audio file, or video comments.
