The Chamber Trio; Melanie Chirignan, Dan Foster and Will Hayes

Chamber musicians – flutist Melanie Chirignan, pianist Dan Foster, and cellist Will Hayes – will present music composed entirely by women in a virtual concert offered free of charge by the Cultural Affairs Program at Hudson Valley Community College. The live-streamed event will be Thursday, Oct. 22 from noon to 1 p.m.

The program will include: Fanny Mendelssohn (1805-1847, Germany), Trio in d minor Op. 11; Hilary Tann (b. 1947, Wales), The Gardens of Anna Maria Luisa de Medici; Rhonda Larson (b. 1963, USA), Be Still My Soul; Amy Beach (1867-1944, USA), Pastorale and Caprice "The Water Sprites," Op. 90.

Melanie Chirignan earned a bachelor’s in music education and performance from SUNY Fredonia and a master’s in Flute Performance from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford (CT). She performs on several works for Masatora Goya’s album, “Dream of Sailing,” and currently performs and teaches throughout the Capital Region.

Dan Foster performs often with Cambridge Concentus, Crescendo Berkshires, and Music in Somerset Hills in collaboration with The Sebastians baroque orchestra. A champion of living composers and a gifted tenor, Foster conducted premieres of “Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis" by Timothy Luby, Vladimir Pleshakov’s choral music and more. He is the music director of The New Opera at Williams College.

Cellist Will Hayes is a graduate of the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and a past student artist at the Chautauqua Institution (NY) and Aspen (CO) music festivals. He performs at chamber music recitals, with full orchestras, in musical theater productions and at weddings, and is an all-strings Suzuki teacher, working with students of all ages.
