Castleton Student Holly Schultz Honored by Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Holly Schultz of Castleton, a 2007 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Physical Education program, was recently honored by the college.

Schultz, a high honor student, received the The Sage College of Albany Physical Education Transfer Excellence Award, which is given to an outstanding graduate who will continue his or her physical education study at Sage.

While at Hudson Valley, Schultz was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, and received several additional academic awards including the New York State Home Bureau Scholarship and the Otto Guenther Scholarship. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for students at two-year colleges, and competed on the Hudson Valley women’s soccer team.

She is a volunteer firefighter for the Schodack Valley Fire Department.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
