Averill Park Resident Linda Lachar Honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Linda M. Lachar of Averill Park, a 2006 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Early Childhood program, was recently honored by the college.

Lachar received the Early Childhood Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership, which is awarded to a high-achieving graduating senior in the college’s Teacher Preparation department. She hopes to continue her education at The College of Saint Rose.
Lachar was co-president of the Early Childhood Education Club and was named to the President’s List or Dean’s List during all four of her semesters at Hudson Valley. She also was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for students in two-year colleges.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
