McCord Joins Hudson Valley Community College as Communications and Marketing Specialist \"Photo

Jason McCord of Albany has joined Hudson Valley Community College as a communications and marketing specialist in the college's Office of Communications and Marketing, which oversees internal and external communications, including media relations, and advertising and marketing efforts at the college.

McCord comes to the college from the Glens Falls Post-Star, where he had worked as a reporter since 2000. Prior to that, he was a reporter for the Gloversville Leader-Herald. He received his bachelor's degree in English/Writing Arts from the State University of New York at Oswego.

As a communications and marketing specialist, McCord's "beats" include the college's School of Business, School of Engineering and Industrial Technologies, Cultural Affairs, and Student Services, including the Center for Careers and Employment and Center for Counseling and Transfer.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center.

One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
