Hudson Valley Community College Fine Arts Students Included in SUNY-wide Art Show

Six students in Hudson Valley Community College's Fine Arts program have works included in the State University's system-wide Fall 2005 Student Art Exhibition.

The college's Fine Arts program is in its seventh year and recently signed a transfer agreement with Purchase College. The program also has agreements with some of the top fine art programs in the country, including the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The students included in the show are:

  • Patrick Colaes of Saratoga, ("Final Still Life," charcoal on paper)
  • Desiree Gouger of Scotia, ("Around the Corner," gelatin silver print)
  • Tanner Holford of Albany, ("Fading Garden," mixed media)
  • Valerie Rafferty of Valley Falls, ("Untitled," oil on canvas)
  • Kristy Sharpe of Clifton Park, ("Glass and Metal Still Life," charcoal on paper)
  • Sarah Winner of Albany, ("Untitled," oil on canvas)

This is the second year that Hudson Valley students have had art work displayed and five students were selected as \"Best of Show\" during the Fall 2004 and Spring 2005 shows.

The work is on display in the State University of New York System Administration building, SUNY Plaza, on Broadway in Albany. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
