Rensselaer Resident William Brown Honored at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

William Brown
William Brown of Rensselaer, a 2005 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Chemical Dependency Counseling program, was recently honored by the college. Brown was given the Ernest Hall Chemical Dependency Counseling Award, given to an outstanding student in the Chemical Dependency Counseling program. A President's List and Dean's List student, he also received a personal achievement and distinguished service award from the department.

Brown served as president of the Human Services Club, and also volunteered for the New York State Department of Corrections.

He is employed by Parsons Child and Family Center and will continue his education in the School of Social Welfare at the University at Albany.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
