Keith Thomas Hired as Athletic Trainer at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Keith Thomas of Mechanicville has been named the interim athletic trainer at Hudson Valley Community College, replacing Stu Balter, who had been Hudson Valley's athletic trainer since 1986.

In that position, Thomas is responsible for the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries for approximately 250 student-athletes on Hudson Valley's 14 varsity teams.

Thomas joins Hudson Valley from Union College, where he had been an assistant athletic trainer since July 2004. Prior to working at Union, he was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University at Albany for two years and the athletic trainer at LaSalle Institute for four years.

Thomas received a bachelor's degree in athletic training from Alfred University in 1998 and a master's degree in curriculum development and instructional technology from UAlbany in 2004.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
