Hudson Valley Community College Graduate Adam Kwarta Receives General Electric Scholarship \"Photo

Adam Kwarta of Albany, a 2004 graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Hudson Valley Community College, recently received a $100 General Electric Scholarship.

Kwarta plans to study mechanical engineering technology at the SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome this fall. He was a Dean's List student for all four semesters he attended Hudson Valley.

Kwarta also is a member of the New York Epsilon chapter of the Tau Alpha Pi National Honor Society for engineering technology students. To gain entrance into the honor society, students must rank among the top four percent of Hudson Valley's total engineering technology enrollment.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
