Selkirk Resident Joyce McCampbell Honored With Dental Hygiene Awards at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Joyce McCampbell of Selkirk, a 2004 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program, recently was honored by the college.

McCampbell received the Dentsply Award for Student Excellence in Periodontal Co-therapy, which is given to a senior Dental Hygiene student who excels in periodontal co-therapy in delivering dental hygiene care. She also was awarded the Dental Hygiene Faculty Memorial Scholarship, which is given to outstanding students who have demonstrated a high grade point average, excellent clinical proficiency and financial need.

McCampbell is an honors graduate and was a member of the President's List for three semesters and the Dean's List for one semester. She plans to work as a dental hygienist for several years and then enter dental school.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. The college has nearly 60,000 alumni.
