Troy Resident Gina Boepple Honored with Early Childhood Award at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Gina Boepple of Troy, a 2004 honors graduate of the Early Childhood program at Hudson Valley Community College, recently received the Early Childhood Club Award for Academic Excellence.

Boepple plans to pursue her education in the fall at either The College of Saint Rose or Bennington College, where she has been nominated to receive a full scholarship.

She was a President's List student for all of her four semesters at Hudson Valley, and received an award for excellence in research for an educational psychology case study she authored. In addition to her course work, Boepple peer tutored fellow students through the college's Learning Assistance Center.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
