Lansingburgh Resident Jessica M. Blanck Honored with Early Childhood Award at Hudson Valley \"Photo

Jessica M. Blanck of Lansingburgh, a 2004 honors graduate of the Early Childhood program at Hudson Valley Community College, recently received the Early Childhood Club Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Blanck, who made the President's List for all of her four semesters at Hudson Valley, plans to study early childhood education at either The College of Saint Rose or Bennington College this fall.

She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for students at two-year colleges, and is also very active in her church.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
