Gansevoort Resident Barbara Cearley Honored With Dental Hygiene Awards at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Barbara Cearley of Gansevoort, a 2004 honor graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program, recently was honored by the college.

She received the Albert H. Stevenson Award, which is given to the graduating senior who has demonstrated the highest overall academic excellence and clinical proficiency in the program. The award is sponsored by the Dental Society of the State of New York. Cearley also was awarded the Dental Hygiene Faculty Memorial Scholarship, which is given to outstanding students who have demonstrated a high grade point average, excellent clinical proficiency and financial need.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. The college has nearly 60,000 alumni.
