FOR RELEASE: Immediate, Thursday, February 5, 2004
WHO:Kids, Dentists and Dental Hygienists celebrate Children's Dental Health Month at Hudson Valley Community College.
WHAT:Two separate events sponsored by Hudson Valley Community College will help Capital District children celebrate Children's Dental Health Month this week.
WHEN:From 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Feb. 6, preschoolers from around the area will be in the college's Dental Hygiene Clinic to receive preventive dental hygiene services. The American Dental Association program, "Give Kids a Smile," is co-sponsored by the Third District Dental Society and the Fourth District Dental Society. Representatives from the state's Division of Criminal Justice Services also will be on hand to provide fingerprints and photo IDs for the kids.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, approximately 120 local Daisy-level Girl Scouts will tour the college's Dental Hygiene Clinic with students from the college's Dental Hygiene program. The Daisies, ages 6-7, will learn the proper way to brush and floss. After the tour, each scout earns a dental health badge. Each year, Dental Hygiene students decide on a theme for the day with the Scouts. Despite the cold weather outside, the Dental Hygiene students will dress in Hawaiian garb for the event.
WHERE: The Dental Hygiene clinic is located in Fitzgibbons Hall (Room 127) on the Hudson Valley Community College campus, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue, Troy.
