Hudson Valley to Host Health and Wellness Day

In conjunction with Hudson Valley Community College's 50th anniversary celebration, the Department of Physical Education and the College Health Service are hosting a Health and Wellness Day on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the fieldhouse of the McDonough Sports Complex. Admission is free.
The event will include the latest information on physical fitness, nutrition, disease and healthy living.
Among the exhibitions scheduled are the VO2 test, which measures a person's cardiovascular fitness, and the grip-strength test.
Attendees also will be invited to view a demonstration of the "Pulling Together" ropes course. One of the latest ideas in leadership and initiative learning, the ropes course incorporates teamwork to overcome obstacles and achieve a goal. There also will be demonstrations of several self-defense techniques.
In addition, there will be cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes tests as well as several exhibitors offering the best health products and services available in the Capital Region.
