FOR RELEASE: Immediate, Thursday, March 29, 2012

What: Dr. John Mellon, a noted expert on the topic of social dining who goes by the working name of Dr. Etiquette, will engage Hudson Valley Community College students in two informative, entertaining and sometimes humorous workshops tomorrow on social interaction in dining situations. He will cover the areas of table manners for business and social gatherings, proper timing of relevant conversation topics during meals, paying the check and tipping, as well as other nuances associated with a successful dining engagement.
Why: As part of their education experience at Hudson Valley, and in the work world following graduation, individuals often find themselves in a variety of social or business dining situations. It is not uncommon for questions about appropriate conduct to arise. In order to prepare students for all possible dining scenarios, the college offers these etiquette sessions annually.
Who: This program is sponsored by the college's Office of Students Activities, under the direction of Louis Coplin.
Where: The Club Corner (in front of the Student Activities Office) on the second floor of the Siek Campus Center.
When: 11 a.m. – Noon and 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012.
