Hudson Valley Community College Students to Discuss Strengthening Buster’s Law with Assembly Member Jim Tedisco

WHO/WHAT: Students from Hudson Valley Community College’s Criminal Justice Department will meet with Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco to discuss strengthening Buster’s Law, a statute which created the felony category of "aggravated cruelty to animals," punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Tedisco was a sponsor of the original 1999 Buster\'s Law.

Also expected to attend the event are Nancy Bonesteel (Buster\'s owner); Dawn Feathers, whose horse, Skye, was recently killed in Hoosick Falls; and local meteorologist Steve Caporizzo, who is active in animal welfare issues.

The discussion will touch on ways to advocate for a stronger animal cruelty law in New York as we reach the 10-year anniversary of the passage of Buster’s Law.
