DETAILS: Hudson Valley Community College’s classrooms and laboratories are at capacity and many are outdated. Enrollment continues to increase each semester. Over the past decade, enrollment in the sciences has increased more than 25 percent. Currently there are 7,000 students taking science courses and the college expects an annual increase of 4 to 5 percent. A new science center is needed to accommodate the growing number of students. The college’s academic buildings must have the technology and academic atmosphere that empowers students to learn and to thrive in 21st-century laboratory settings.
