Hudson Valley Community College to Honor Community Partners, Distinguished Alumni

WHO: Mark T. Breslin '58, State Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno, James A. Walsh '61, Gordon N. Zuckerman '62 and the U.W. Marx Construction Company.
WHAT: Breslin, Bruno, Walsh, Zuckerman and U.W. Marx will be honored at Hudson Valley Community College's Distinguished Service Awards Luncheon, which is sponsored by the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation and the college's Alumni Association.

Noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006; program begins at 12:45 p.m.

Breslin, the owner of Maranda Technical, an engineering company, will receive the Otto V. Guenther Career Achievement Award; Bruno will receive the 1953 Award for Distinguished Service to Hudson Valley Community College by a Non-Alumnus; Walsh, a retired manager with the former Niagara-Mohawk Power Corp., and current deputy mayor of Troy, will receive the 1953 Award for Distinguished Service to Hudson Valley Community College by an Alumnus; Zuckerman, president of Murray and Zuckerman, a nationally recognized life, health, group and annuity brokerage firm, will receive the Hudson Valley Community College Humanitarian Service Award; and U.W. Marx will receive the Corporate Excellence Award.

Major sponsors of the event include: The Times Union, Verizon, John Scanlon's Market Block, Massry Realty Partners, Seton Health System, E. Stewart Jones Law Firm, Clark Patterson Associates, Fuller & O'Brien Inc., and MVP Health Care. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable corporation formed in 1983 to philanthropically support the college's mission. Gifts to the Foundation are used to enhance programs, facilities and scholarship opportunities at the college.
