The Bread & Puppet Theater company, founded in 1963, is one of the oldest self-supporting nonprofit theater companies in the country. They perform both nationally and internationally, traveling to Barcelona, Spain last fall. The group includes local volunteers in their performances, which often involve political themes such as the impact of Wal-Mart on local communities. While taking on adult themes, the skits typically involve slapstick comedy. The performance is part of Hudson Valley Community College's Cultural Affairs program. The event is free.
