Hudson Valley Community College Hosts Family Day for New Students

Annual event welcomes new students to college

WHO: Nearly 2,000 new Hudson Valley Community College students, their parents and other family members.
WHAT: Hudson Valley will host its annual Family Day event, which is designed to welcome – and acclimate – new students to campus. The Fall 2005 semester begins Monday, Aug. 29.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005


McDonough Sports Complex and other locations across campus
Hudson Valley Community College

Family Day begins at 9 a.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex with opening remarks by Hudson Valley President Andrew J. “Drew” Matonak, Ed.D.

Department chairs and student advisors will be on hand to meet with students and their parents. A variety of college services, including the Registrar, Viking’s Cove Bookstore, Financial Aid, Learning Assistance Center, and College Health Service also will be open until noon to serve students and their parents.

Tours of campus also will be offered; the event wraps up with a barbecue, which will take place at the Student Pavilion in front of Hudson Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
