Hudson Valley to Host Lecture on Environment

WHO: Dr. Eric A. Davidson, senior scientist at the Wood’s Hole Research Center in Massachusetts.
WHAT: Dr. Davidson will discuss the issues in his latest book, “You Can’t Eat GNP,” as part of Hudson Valley Community College’s Voices: A Library Lecture Series.

Dr. Davidson is an author and a researcher with extensive experience in the ecology of the Amazon Forest basin. His latest book tackles the problem of protecting the environment while dealing with current economic conditions.

Dr. Davidson has studied the transfer of carbon and nitrogen gases from the soil to the atmosphere, where they contribute to warming of the earth. His research addresses how human management of the land affects this transfer of greenhouse gases.

Dr. Davidson has held positions as National Research Council Associate at the NASA Ames Research Center and as Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Soil Microbiology at the University of California, Berkeley.
