will compete in the American Society of Civil Engineers\' (ASCE) regional

||The competition allows students to put the civil engineering technology
knowledge they have gained to the test by designing and building a steel
bridge, and assembling it as quickly as possible. The faster the students
complete the bridge, the higher their score. The bridge must be 3½ feet
wide, at least 25 feet long, and no larger than 5 feet high. In addition
to being judged on the time it takes to assemble the bridge, students are
judged on the bridge\'s weight and its "deflection under load," which is
how much the bridge will bend when loaded vertically with 1.25 tons.
