The Computer Aided Drafting certificate program is an intensive, one-year training program that prepares you to obtain an entry-level position in the field of computer aided drafting and design.
During the fall and spring semesters, you will be enrolled in 12 courses, gaining in-depth knowledge of the leading CAD software packages. During the spring semester you will actively participate in selecting an internship site for your six-week summer practicum.
This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation.
This program is offered by the Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies Department.
Entrance and Course Requirements
- This is an intensive one-year training program that leads to employment opportunities.
- Students will take advantage of hands-on, practical field experience with a local company.
- 45 college credits earned in ten months provide a good foundation for entry-level employment positions, as well as the opportunity to transfer into an associate degree programs.

Career and Transfer Opportunities
Graduates will be qualified for an entry-level careers in the Computer-Aided Design field. Common careers include: Computer-Aided Designer/Drafter.
Recent employers include: Clough Harbour and Associates; Greg Beeche Logistics, LLC; Harvest Homes; MJ Engineering and Surveying; Sage Engineering Associates; and Stantac Engineering/Consulting.
Salaries vary based on position and degree attainment. The department estimates that starting salaries range from $24,900 to $33,000, dependent upon your experience and the company hiring. Here is the median salary taken from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (as of 2015): Computer Aided Drafter, $52,720.
