She waits in silence,
She waits alone,
She waits and waits,
And stares at the phone.
Why doesn't he write?
Why is she waiting
All alone tonight?
She stares hard;
Her eyes grow sore.
She waits
Longer than ever before.
A second, a minute,
An hour go by,
But she still waits and stares
Without blinking an eye.
Will the phone ring?
Will it happen ever?
She just keeps waiting,
And she'll wait forever.
She waits and stares,
But hasn't yet spoken,
Then suddenly-
The silence is broken!
The phone is ringing!
Oh what a sight!
It's him! He called!
No more waiting tonight.
