Three Hudson Valley Women’s Soccer Players Receive Postseason Recognition

Three Hudson Valley Community College women’s soccer players received All-Conference recognition for their performances in the 2007 season in which the Lady Vikings finished 11-6-1 and advanced to the semifinals of the NJCAA Region III Tournament. In addition, Head Coach Jay Pokines was named the conference’s Co-Coach of the Year.

Sophomore forward Brenna Mereness (Castleton/Maple Hill High School) received All-Conference and Second Team All-Region III recognition. She led Hudson Valley in scoring with 22 goals and five assists in 2007. Mereness finished her two-year Hudson Valley career with 47 goals and 11 assists.

Sophomore midfielder Laurel Good (Brainard) also received All-Conference and Second Team All-Region recognition. She had 14 goals and three assists this year.

Sophomore sweeper Heather Orvis (Rotterdam/Mohonasen High School) was an All-Conference selection. She anchored a defense that posted six shutouts in 2007. She also assisted on two goals.
