Hudson Valley Women’s Soccer Defeats Erie

The Hudson Valley Community College (9-4) women’s soccer team scored five goals in the first half and cruised to a 7-0 win over Erie Community College (2-8) this afternoon in Troy.

Sophomore Sandra Aguilar (Bogota, Columbia) led a balanced offensive attack with two goals. Ten different Hudson Valley players had at least a goal or an assist in the game.

Also scoring for Hudson Valley were Kim Poetzsch (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School), Brenna Mereness (Castleton/Maple Hill High School), Brittany Wilkinson (Watervliet/Watervliet High School), Janel VanAlstyne (Melrose/Tamarac High School) and Alyssa Cavosie (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School).

Freshman goalie April Mevoli (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) stopped four shots to earn the shutout.

Hudson Valley has shutout its last three opponents.
