Hudson Valley Women’s Soccer Defeats Corning

Freshman Brenna Mereness (Castleton/Maple Hill High School) recorded a hat trick in leading the Hudson Valley Community College (2-0) women’s soccer team to a 9-2 win over Corning Community College earlier today in Troy.

Hudson Valley held a narrow 4-2 lead with 22 minutes remaining before Mereness scored three goals in a 12 minute span that put the Red Barons away.

Sophomore Deana Semenza (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) had two goals in the first half that helped Hudson Valley to a 4-1 halftime lead.

Also tallying goals for Hudson Valley were Vanessa Aguilar (Bogota, Columbia), Amy Near (Burnt Hills/Scotia-Glenville High School), Brittany Wilkinson (Watervliet/Watervliet High School) and Hannah Sloboda (Pittstown/Tamarac High School).

Hudson Valley will host North Country Community College at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 7.
