Jay Pokines Named Hudson Valley's Women's Soccer Coach

Hudson Valley Community College Athletic Director Drew Marrochello announced today the hiring of Jay Pokines of Clifton Park as the women's soccer coach.

Pokines recently served as the assistant men's soccer coach at Adirondack Community College the past two seasons. He also has 15 years of experience coaching various youth and travel teams.

"We expect our women's soccer team to continue to compete for a Region III title every year," Marrochello said. "Jay's wealth of soccer coaching experience and desire to be successful should help him in accomplishing that goal."

Pokines received his bachelor's degree from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse and currently works full-time as a landscape architect for New York State.

Hudson Valley, which finished the 2004 campaign with a 9-7-1 record, will open the 2005 season on Thursday, September 8 at North Country Community College.
