Hudson Valley Women's Soccer to Host Niagara in Region III Opening Round

The Hudson Valley Community College (8-6-1) women's soccer team will host Niagara County Community College at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, in the opening round of the 12-team NJCAA Region III Division III tournament.

Hudson Valley, the seventh seed, is in the tournament for the second consecutive season after advancing to the quarterfinals a year ago. The winner of Saturday's game will travel to second seeded Mohawk Valley Community College on Tuesday, October 26.

The Lady Vikings won their final three games of the season to ensure themselves a spot in the tournament, including an upset win over Cayuga Community College, which was ranked No. 5 in the NJCAA Division III poll, on October 16.

Sophomore Liz O'Brien (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh High School) is Hudson Valley's leading scorer for the second consecutive season. She has 17 goals and 15 assists this year, and has scored 41 goals in her career.

Freshman Dana Porcello (Waterford/Waterford-Halfmoon High School) has 11 goals and five assists.

Freshman forward Laura Freeman (Kenmore West High School) leads Niagara and Region III with 42 goals this year.
