Three women's soccer players from Hudson Valley Community College were named to the Mountain Valley Conference All-Conference Team recently. In addition, head coach Randee McArdle was honored as the All-Conference Second Team coach.

"It says a lot about Randee McArdle when her coaching peers give her this award despite the 4-7 record," said Hudson Valley athletics director Drew Marrochello. "She worked very hard to field a competitive team even though they were shorthanded all season due to injuries and players leaving for personal reasons. I feel very confident that the Hudson Valley women's soccer program will only get better with Randee McArdle at the helm."

Midfielder Kim Etman (Grafton, NY/Berlin High School) was awarded All-Mountain Valley Conference First Team honors while forward Christine Parker (Mount Vision/Laurens Central School) and defender Desiree Devine (Galway/Galway Central School) were named to the conference's Second Team.

"I can't say enough about the girls that were named to the All-Conference teams," said McArdle. "Kim Etman, Desiree Devine and Christine Parker were all integral parts of our team this year."

Etman and Parker each had five goals and two assists to lead Hudson Valley this season.

In the 2001-02 academic year, Hudson Valley's athletic teams combined to win 65 percent of their contests. The college's softball team traveled to Illinois for the national championship tournament and finished second in the country, and the women's basketball team placed seventh in the nation. Hudson Valley's football team won the Northeast Football Conference, and the baseball and bowling squads each added a Mountain Valley Conference title. Additionally, three Vikings earned Region III Player-of-the-Year status and eight were honored with All-American status.
